St Louis Grammar School: SEAG score and admissions criteria

Kilkeel · Catholic co-educational grammar · September 2026 entry

This page shows exactly how St Louis Grammar School used SEAG results to allocate Year 8 places,
taken from the school’s own published admissions criteria. It is one of the
63 school evidence cards in our SEAG admissions guide.

Allocation pattern

Band priority

SEAG scores are grouped into bands. Every child in Band 1 is considered before any child in Band 2, and so on. Within an oversubscribed band, published tie-break criteria — not the score — decide who gets a place.

How places were allocated for September 2026

  1. 130 places. Pupils are admitted by SEAG Band: all Band 1 applicants before any Band 2, and so on, until places are filled.
  2. Within an oversubscribed Band the criteria apply in order: a sibling enrolled → a parent on the school’s permanent staff → a brother or sister who previously attended → then further criteria and a tie-break.
  3. A voluntary contribution (currently £60 per pupil, maximum £150 per family) is requested.
Band comes first, but the school has been undersubscribed in recent years — applications have been below the 130 places, so in practice all applicants were admitted and the Band ordering did not bite.

Recent admissions history

Entry year Places Applications (all prefs) Admitted
2023/24 130 100 97
2024/25 130 98 98
2025/26 130 120 119

In each recent year applications were below the number of places, so all applicants were admitted, as stated by the school.
