This Cookie Policy explains how NI Tutoring School (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on https://nitutoringschool.com. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
The short version: we use the cookies needed to run the site and take payments, plus one low-risk analytics tool that counts visits. We do not advertise to you, track you across other websites, or build profiles. You can switch the analytics off in one click — here.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site work, remember your preferences, keep you logged in, and understand how the site is used. We also use similar technologies such as your browser’s local storage.
The cookies we use
Essential cookies (always on). These are needed for the Service to work and cannot be switched off in our systems. They include:
- Login and session cookies — keep you securely logged in and run the learning platform (LearnDash / WordPress), for example while you take a quiz. These last for your session or, if you choose “remember me”, for up to 14 days.
- Security cookies — help protect your account and the site.
- Payment and fraud prevention — when you go through checkout, our payment provider Stripe sets cookies to process the payment securely and to detect fraud. See Stripe’s cookie policy.
- Performance/caching — our page-caching layer serves pages quickly; it does not identify you.
Functionality (local storage). We use your browser’s local storage to remember certain things on your device — for example your personal best score on a quiz — so we can show it back to you. This stays on your device.
Analytics. We use Jetpack / WordPress.com Stats to understand, in an aggregated way, how visitors use the site (such as pages viewed and visitor numbers) so we can improve it. We do not use this to build advertising profiles, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising. UK law lets us use these low-risk statistical cookies without a consent pop-up, but only because we tell you clearly that we use them and offer you a simple, free way to switch them off — and here it is: turn off analytics cookies. Changed your mind? Turn them back on. Your choice is remembered on this device for 12 months.
Third-party resources. Some pages load resources from external providers to work correctly — for example the MathJax library (to display maths questions) and web fonts. These are used to render the page and are not used by us to track you for advertising.
We do not use advertising or social-media tracking pixels (such as a Google Analytics or Facebook/Meta Pixel) on the site. If that ever changes, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.
Managing cookies
The quickest way to switch off our analytics cookies is the link in the Analytics section above — it takes one click, costs nothing, and your choice is remembered on that device for 12 months. You do not need to give us any details to do it.
You can also control and delete cookies through your browser settings — most browsers let you block or remove cookies, though blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site (like logging in or taking quizzes) from working. Useful instructions are published by the browser makers (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox).
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above.
