The Royal School Dungannon: SEAG score and admissions criteria

Dungannon · co-educational voluntary grammar (boarding & day) · September 2026 entry

This page shows exactly how The Royal School Dungannon used SEAG results to allocate Year 8 places,
taken from the school’s own published admissions criteria. It is one of the
63 school evidence cards in our SEAG admissions guide.

Allocation pattern

Partial academic pathway

The school fills part of its intake through an academic pathway that uses SEAG scores, and the rest through non-academic criteria. Check how many places sit in each pathway before relying on either.

How places were allocated for September 2026

  1. 100 places. Up to 8 boarding places are allocated first (boarders must be resident in Northern Ireland and provide supporting evidence to the Admissions Committee).
  2. The remaining places (at least 92) are allocated on rank order of Entrance Assessment score (TSAS), highest first.
  3. Where applicants tie on the same score for the last place(s), tie-break criteria are applied.
  4. A capital fee (currently £70 per year) is charged to all pupils except those entitled to Free School Meals; a voluntary contribution is also requested.
Up to 8 of the 100 places are reserved for boarders; the remaining places go on SEAG score rank. For day pupils, admission is effectively by score alone once the small boarding allocation is set aside. The Band is not used.
